🌿 Cultural Appreciation, Education & Respect
Dreamcatchers have deep cultural roots in Indigenous North American traditions, particularly among the Ojibwe (Anishinaabe) people, where they hold meanings that extend beyond their modern decorative uses.
As the instructor of this workshop, I believe it is important to acknowledge and respect those origins.
I am not of Native American descent. However, I hold a degree in Cultural Anthropology with an emphasis on North American Native cultures. My educational background has given me an appreciation for the importance of understanding cultural traditions within their historical and social contexts.
This class is presented as an educational arts-and-crafts workshop, not as an Indigenous-led cultural teaching or traditional ceremony.
My intention is to share a creative skill while encouraging an understanding of the history, origins, and cultural significance associated with dreamcatchers.
